About This Project

StopAmbulanceBalanceBills.org is a public-interest initiative focused on ending surprise balance billing for ground ambulance services in the United States.

Why this exists

People call 911 because they need help, not because they want to gamble with a multi-thousand dollar bill. Yet across the country, patients are being hit with huge ambulance charges they never agreed to and could never reasonably avoid.

What we’re building

• Clear explanations of how ambulance billing works and why balance billing happens
• A collection of real-world stories from affected patients and families
• Policy ideas and model proposals for lawmakers and advocates
• Tools for contacting representatives and spreading awareness

Who maintains this

This project is maintained by Jonathan Kendall (onojk123), as a small but focused effort to shine light on an overlooked piece of the U.S. healthcare system and to push for specific, actionable reforms.
